Car Parking Safety Nets

Car parking safety nets address two primary risks in multi-storey and open-sided car park structures: falling objects from upper levels that may strike vehicles or pedestrians below, and bird droppings from pigeons roosting in the roof structure that cause paint and surface damage to parked vehicles. A combined safety and bird control net installation addresses both problems in a single solution.

The net is installed horizontally at each floor level, spanning between the structural columns and beams to catch any object dropped from the floor above. A 50mm mesh is typically specified to catch tools and personal objects while being largely invisible from the parking area. The net also creates a barrier that prevents pigeons from accessing the space below the net, progressively reducing the bird population in the protected zone.

Car parking safety net installations must account for the structural limitations of existing car park frameworks — many older structures were not designed with net loads in mind, and the installation must distribute loads to existing load-bearing members.
